Soils without compaction are heterogeneous. They may contain voids, areas of greater and lesser density, which accumulate residual deformations under the influence of mechanical loads, which over time leads to subsidence of the roadbed, its deformation and the formation of irregularities and holes on the roadway. When the soil is compacted by only 1%, its strength and resistance to loads increases by 10%, or even 15%.
